New Year, New Look?

Many of us see the New Year as the perfect chance for a brand new start. We can forget about the woes and troubles of the previous year and start focusing on what the future has to offer. The New Year is an incredibly exciting time and it is one that you should look forward to with glee. As we all know, the New Year is a time for a New Year’s resolution and, with the chance for a fresh start beckoning, why not use your resolution this year to transform the look of your home? There are some simple ways you can do this and here are just a few to whet your appetite:

Refresh, Renew, Rejuvenate
A new year should mean new décor, but, before you add these little touches, you should consider repainting the walls. New, fresh paintwork always makes your house appear more vibrant but, it is incredible how quickly it fades. For this reason, if you simply add some new décor to the walls, it will fail to sparkle, whereas if you paint first, you can really allow all of your decorations to shine.
As well as the walls, however, make sure you remember the other aspects of your room. If you have a solid wood floor for example, sanding it down and oiling it will help it keep its sheen. In the winter we trail all sorts of substances in on our shoes and these take their toll on our floors. Sanding it and oiling it will rebuild its defences, ensuring it stays hard wearing.

Take a More Thematic Approach
As the year changes, so do the styles and fashion. Although we automatically think that this change in fashion is only attributable to clothing, it also applies to home furnishings so, if you’ve got some tired looking decorations, now is the perfect time to swap and create a thematic approach that reflects current trends.

What’s more, because these are all design changes, they’re low cost and only require minimal effort- the perfect way to keep to that New Year’s resolution.

Tackle Those Big Jobs
As well as allowing you to refresh and renew, this New Year provides you with the perfect opportunity to tackle those big jobs you’ve been putting off for so long. To keep your resolution, you have all year to tackle them, but why not get it out of the way early?

If you’ve been thinking about building a conservatory, an extension or even having the loft renovated, now is the perfect time to do so. There’s no time like the present and this is the perfect way to commit yourself to creating a whole new look for your home. Obviously, the jobs don’t have to be this large, but anything you can do create a whole new look for your home will add up and you’ll feel like you’ll have a whole new home in no time.

To conclude, the New Year provides you with the perfect opportunity for you to rejuvenate your home and finally tackle those big jobs you’ve been putting off. Redecorating your home is now easier than ever and, nowadays, with companies such as Elcocks supplying everything you could ever need online, there really is nothing stopping you this New Year.
